A Cricut Machine Fun and Simple Scrapbooking Layout
70Over the years I have been working on and off to make a memorable scrapbook for my daughter; a chronological memory book of photos for her. In the past I was working by hand, cutting out shapes to enhance the photos but now it is so much easier to create a beautiful scrapbooking page using the Cricut Machine and cartridges.
I made this page using the Sentimentals Cricut Cartridge because of the variety of frames you are able to cutout with the Cricut Machine and Cardstock. It is easier to cutout the frame according to your photo size. Using a good heavyweight cardstock works best.
Frame Choice 1
I measured the length of each oval photo to determine the size of the frame needed. This photo was 4" long.
- Cut 1 each of <Label1>, pg 68. Using Real Dial Size Key. Size 5 1/2", 5 1/4", and 5".
- I placed the cutouts a bit staggered to show the "daisy" effect.
Frame Choice 2
Because this is a smaller photo, <Frame1> didn't look right. I cut out 3 Ovals starting 1/4" bigger than the photo to use as frames.
Another choice s <Frame2>, pg 29, Tag Key and no shift.
Frame Choice 3
Using <Label1>, pg 68, create the three cutouts. If your photo is 4" use the same sizing. If your photo is smaller reduce the size of the cutouts and you can add a smaller sized oval for the photo. Cut using a pattern, such as the ones sold by Creative Memories or by hand.
Embellishments
The small white bow flowers looked cute and perfect for this layout.
I affixed one to a corner of each photo.
These are purchased a most scrapbooking supply stores or a department store in the craft department.
Journaling & Stamping
Journaling:
Every scrapbook page should have a bit of journaling, to explain and date the page. Up in the right corner you can see I cut out a small oval, glued it to the page, then noted the subject of the photos.
Stamps
I added a "Flag" stamp and a "Stars and Stripes" acrylic stamp for interest. Acrylic stamps add so much to a layout created with a Cricut machine. Good quality stamps are necessary for quality imprints. Once the stamp is stuck to the acrylic block, you can "dab" different colors to areas of the stamp.
Finished
The end result is a fun page which did not take very long to create showcasing a Brownie Girl Scout's First Memorial Day parade.
