Easy to Make Valentine's for Kids with a Cricut Machine

It is always fun to get Valentine's Day cards for the children to hand out and one easy way to make a large number of cards is by using a Cricut Personal Cutting Machine. With the Cricut once you have decided on the style of card you want, it is easy to cut a large number of Valentine's Day cards. They are the perfect size, one sided, and really cute and easy to make.

Your little one will love giving out Valentine's Day cards that they have helped you make. These cards are so much more personal than the run of the mill store Valentine's Day cards manufactured for kids to give in the classroom to their friends.

Cricut Cartridge: Spring Holiday Cards

This cartridge is probably the simplest Cricut cartridge to use. There is only one key, the base keyboard key, that has to be used. You simply choose a card design, choose the size, load your paper, and press the button. The Spring Holiday Cards cartridge has numerous card designs for all the holidays that occur in the spring time.

For Valentine's Day itself you can choose from Hearts, Pirate, Mushroom, Skull and Crossbones, Fox, Bee, Queen, Ladybug, Toad, and Guitar. It is very easy to switch from one to the other because only one key is involved so your little one can have different designs to hand out on Valentine's Day.

Cardstock: Lightweight for the Envelope

I chose just two of the backgrounds for my Valentine's kids cards. I chose traditional colors in cardstock to use along with a patterned cardstock for the Valentine's Day card envelope.

Front Cricut Cutout:

Cut one <Valntne9>, size 4" using the base keyboard key. This will cutout the Toad-Ally Yours shape. Use a heavy weight cardstock.

Cut one <Valntne2>, size 4" using the base keyboard key. This will cutout the Be Mine Matey shape. Use a heavy weight cardstock.

Background Cricut Cutout:

For the backgrounds, simply choose one that is portrait or landscape and will work with the front cutout you choose.

Cut one <Bckgrnd7>, size 4" using the base keyboard key and a heavy weight cardstock. This will cutout the wavy edged background shape for your Valentine's Day cutout to be adhered too.

Cut one <Bckgrnd4>, size 4" using the base keyboard key and a heavy weight cardstock. This will cutout the angled edged background shape for a different Valentine's Day cutout to be adhered too.

Adhere the front cutout to one of the background cutouts. There are 10 Fronts and 10 Backgrounds to choose from and they will work well with each other.

Envelope:

There are 3 envelope designs to choose from. Use a thinner cardstock as you will have to fold the envelope and glue it together. I chose envelope #2 to make:

Cut one <Envlope2>, size 4" using the base keyboard key. This will cutout the entire envelope. Use the Portrait setting on your Cricut machine for best results.

Fold the bottom flap of the envelope up.

Fold the side flap of the envelope inward.

Fold the top flap of the envelope down.

Bring the bottom flap to the outside and glue just the edges to the side flap already folded. This will create your envelope "pocket" for the Valentine's Day card to slide into.

When you are finished glueing each card, set something heavy on it and set aside until completely dried.

Slip the Valentine's Day card in and you are done. Multiples of these cards and envelopes can be made quickly and easily.
